• Mekhi Phifer married his love Reshelet Barnes at Beverly Hills’ Montage Hotel on Saturday, reports E! News. The former ER star and his fiancée welcomed more than 100 family members and friends to the ceremony. The couple’s son walked down the aisle with their family Chihuahua. Phifer wore a white suit and walked down the aisle to Stevie Wonder’s “Ribbon in the Sky.” According to witnesses, the ceremony lasted 15 minutes. This is Phifer’s second marriage. [E! News]
• Tyler Perry’s Temptation earned the third spot in weekend box office rankings. The film featuring Jurnee Smollett-Bell and Lance Gross earned $22.3 million—Perry’s second biggest non-Madea movie opening after Why Did I Get Married Too? G.I. Joe: Retaliation earned the top spot with $41.2 million and The Croods earned $26.5 million. [E! News]
• En Vogue members Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis sued former bandmates Maxine Jones and Dawn Robinson for illegally touring under their group name after they disbanded. A judged ruled in favor of Herron and Ellis. However, no money was awarded. [TMZ]
• ESSENCE Fest performer Jill Scott confirmed that she is indeed working on a follow up to 2011’s The Light of the Sun. The singer says she’s in the studio three or four nights a week recording eight or nine songs at a time. Scott didn’t say when she plans to have the album finished or what the theme of the album will be. [TGJ]
