2014 was a great year for Little League phenom Mo’ne Davis and she’s ending it with a bang! The 13-year-old was named 2014 Female Athlete of the Year by the Associated Press. Davis is the youngest athlete to receive the honor. Davis taught the world how to “throw like a girl” when she pitched a shut out at the Little League World Series Game and became the youngest athlete to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Former Atlanta Housewife Porsha Williams was arrested and briefly jailed Monday for reckless driving. The Dish Nation host and former Bravo reality star was going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. “Handcuffs are not comfortable or a good look for anyone,” Williams told Dish Nation about the arrest. She posted $1,726 bond and was released Monday with her car and license. [TMZ]
Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson isn’t one to make new year’s resolutions. “For me, they are a state of mind, not a state of annual declaration,” he said. But he does have a few philosophies he tries to live by that he’s taking into the new year: To learn something new about the world and the universe that he didn’t know yesterday, and to lessen the suffering of others. Two members of the legendary R&B group, The Manhattans, have passed away within a week of each other. Edward “Sonny” Bivins, 78, passed on December 3 and Winfred “Blue” Lovett, 74, passed on December 9. They were both co-founders of the group behind hit songs like “Kiss and Say Goodbye.” Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones.
