It’s official. Nick Cannon has filed for divorce from Mariah Carey, taking the first legal step in finalizing their break-up. Cannon quietly filed the paperwork on December 12, a few days after Carey performed at the tree-lighting event in Rockefeller Center. Carey, meanwhile, is gearing up for a Vegas residency in the summer months. Carey and Cannon were married for six years and have two young children together. No word yet on how they’ll settle custody over their twins. [TMZ]
YaYa DaCosta, star of the upcoming Whitney Houston biopic, has launched an Instagram campaign, #ImEveryWoman, to pay homage to the women who inspire her. “I wanted to celebrate how Whitney always embraced sisterhood and do a photo series in the spirit of her song, ‘I’m Every Woman,'” DaCosta wrote. “This week, I’m paying homage to eight other women who inspire me and I’m inviting us all to celebrate seeing ourselves in each other-no matter what color we are or where we come from. #ImEveryWoman.” [Clutch]
Get ready for Vixen, DC Comics’ Black superheroine who’s about to get her own show. DC Comics announced that they’ll produce an animated webseries about this Justice League member with the power to adopt the abilities of animals for The CW’s digital channel. DC Comics is hopeful that the series will eventually move from the web to network television to join other superhero shows like The Flash and Arrow. [The Root]
Willow Smith has just dropped a new EP titled Interdimensional Tesseract. The EP consists of just three tracks entirely produced by Chaotic: the lead single, “H E A R T,” “Vibration,” and “See You Dance.” Interdimensional Tesseract is available for download now. [BET]
