• Oprah’s mega yard sale took place on Saturday and boy did the media mogul earn a pretty penny for her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation College Fund. According to the Los Angeles Times, the auction earned more than $600,000. Hundreds of personal items from all five of Oprah’s homes were auctioned off. The biggest selling item of the day was a set of six 18th century Louis XVI armchairs, which sold for $60,000. [LA Times]
• On Friday, Kevin Hart opened both his heart and his wallet to his hometown of Philadelphia. The comedian donated 500 computers to local schools and recreation centers. “I am blessed to be in a position that allows me to give back to the city that made me who I am,” said Hart. [Grio]
• Just a few days after Chris Brown entered rehab to help his anger problem, he spoke with his new probation officer. TMZ reports that the two met on Friday and spoke for an hour about his current stint in rehab. However, they did not discuss Brown’s latest run-in with the law. The probation department will reportedly hand in a report to Brown’s judge next week. The judge could revoke the singer’s probation, sending him to jail for up to four years. [TMZ]
• Kanye West is causing more controversy. The rapper has been selling merchandise featuring the Confederate flag at his Yeezus concerts. He was also spotted wearing the flag on his jacket this weekend. He told L.A. radio station 97.1 AMP, “React how you want… You know the Confederate flag represented slavery in a way—that’s my abstract take on what I know about it. So I made the song ‘New Slave.’ So I took the Confederate flag and made it my flag. It’s my flag. Now what are you going to do?” [People]
