Check out what we’re chatting about over coffee:
• President Obama joined a number of invited guests for the unveiling of the Rosa Parks statue in the Captiol Building’s Statuary Hall this week. The Commander-in-Chief said that the Civil Rights pioneer takes her “rightful place among those who shaped this nation’s course.” The bronze colored statue is of Parks refusing to give up her seat in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. “That moment tells us something about how change happens or doesn’t happen. The changes we make, or don’t make. Rosa Parks tells us there’s something we can do. We all have responsibilities to our selves and one another.” [EURweb]
• Paris Jackson, 14, unveiled a brand new look on Twitter. Jackson cut her hair into an edgy style and dyed it black—channeling her inner ’80s punk rocker. She tweeted a picture of herself wearing a knotted Pink Floyd T-shirt to complete the look. Check it out here. [People]
• Kevin Hart will host his very first episode of Saturday Night Live this weekend and in preparation, he called on his pals Wednesday night for one stellar night of improv at New York’s Comedy Cellar. Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Marlon Wayans and Bill Bellamy joined the Essence Festival alum on stage for a bevy of laughs. Just the night before, Rock and Chappelle hosted their own comedy hour at the club. [Page Six] [RollingStone]
• Michael Jordan is listing his Chicago home for eight million less than he originally wanted to. The current price of the 56,000 square-foot home now stands at a cool $21 million. It boasts 15 bathrooms, nine bedrooms and five fireplaces. However, Jordan hasn’t lived there in quite some time. Since his divorce five years ago, he’s been living in Florida and only recently decided to relocate back to his home state of North Carolina. [Radar]
