Prince has announced plans to perform at a special concert in Baltimore in support of the recent protests. His “Rally 4 Peace” will take place on Sunday May 10 at the Royal Farms Arena.
“In a spirit of healing, the event is meant to be a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the U.S.,” the press release reads. “As a symbolic message of our shared humanity and love for one another, attendees are invited to wear something gray in tribute to all those recently lost in the violence.”
Prince also recently announced he was recording a new song in tribute to Freddie Gray that has not yet been release and will likely be performed at the rally. [The Root]

Tamir Rice’s mother Samaria Rice has reportedly moved into a homeless shelter. Rice says she’s experiencing emotional distress living next to the “killing field” where her 12-year-old son was shot and killd by a police officer while playing outside in November.
“The incident has shattered the life of the Rice family,” said a motion filed by the rice family. “Samaria Rice, Tamir Rice’s mother, has since been forced to move to a homeless shelter because she could no longer live next door to the killing field of her son.”
The Rice family hasn’t even been able to bury Tamir properly, as further medical investigations are needed to pursue justice in this case. [Jezebel]

In an attempt to avoid sending the wrong political message, Lauryn Hill has had to cancel an upcoming show in Israel.
“When deciding to play the region, my intention was to set up a performance in the Palestinian Territory. I’ve wanted very much to bring our live performance to this part of the world, but also to be a presence supporting justice and peace,” Hill wrote in a statement.
“It is very important to me that my presence or message not be misconstrued, or a source of alienation to either my Israeli or my Palestinian fans,” she added. “For this reason, we have decided to cancel the upcoming performance in Israel.” [Madame Noire]
Bruno Mars’ hit song “Uptown Funk” isn’t just Bruno’s hit anymore. Five new artists including Trinidad James and The Gap Band can now stake claim as songwriters on the No. 1 record. Trinidad James’ song “All Gold Everything” and The Gap Band’s “Oops Upside Your Head” were sampled for the song and Bruno Mars and his songwriters reached a settlement outside of court. [Billboard]
Chris Brown received some good news on his birthday Tuesday. Assault and battery charges filed against him have been dropped. After telling Las Vegas police that Brown punched him after a basketball game, the victim declined to pursue the charges with no further explanation.
Meanwhile, Brown’s publicist denies that Brown has anything to do with the confrontation. [CNN]
