• Not too long ago, Toni Braxton contemplated retirement. But as we later discovered from watching The Braxton Family Values, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds helped change her mind. But in a recent interview with Hello Beautiful, Braxton says there many more who staged a mini-intervention if you will. “Friends of mine came to my rescue and told me it’s not time,” said Braxton. “Kenny… he helped me a lot, Anita Baker, Miss Elliot, Fantasia, so many people said ‘you can’t, it’s not time.'” Above all, Braxton says she thinks she forgot how much joy music brings to her life. “Sometimes God gives you gifts and you forget that they’re gifts and you take them for granted; I definitely think I did in the past.” [Hello Beautiful]
• Paris Jackson left boarding school this week. It’s the first time Jackson left Utah since her attempted suicide on June 5th. The starlet reportedly is heading to Hawaii to spend Christmas vacation with her family. However, sources say she won’t remain on the island too long. Some family members don’t want her to get too comfortable and try to convince folks that she should return home permanently. [E! Online]
• This weekend, Stevie Wonder recreated his classic 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life, at Los Angeles’ annual Toys for Tots charity event. The legendary singer performed all 21 songs complete with entire R&B orchestra and several special guests including India Arie, John Mayer and Joe. The event lasted some three hours with an intermission in the middle. “Truly, I wanted to do this for years,” said Wonder. “But it felt it was meant to be right now.” [Rolling Stone]
• It appears that Kanye West’s partnership with Adidas is going well. The rapper says he’s created about 20 shoes thus far. “We designed the entire women’s collection,” he said. “We designed the entire men’s collection… we coming in September and it’s about to be a paradigm shift.” [Vibe]
