- Fire struck Tyler Perry’s Atlanta studio once again yesterday. Nearly 24 firefighters were on the scene to battle the blaze. Fortunately, there were no injuries. Yesterday’s fire was the second in four months. On May 1, a deadly fire destroyed a simulated streetscape at the studio. Over 100 firefighters were called to put out the flames. [Hollywood Reporter]
- Actress Loretta Devine will make a guest appearance on The Soul Man. Devine will play Della, the mother of Reverend Boyce played by Cedric the Entertainer. Devine’s first of two episodes will air on Wednesday at 10/9c on TV Land. [TV Guide]
- Motown: The Musical will open on Broadway on April 14. Brandon Victor Dixon has been cast as Berry Gordy, while Valisa LeKae is set to play Diana Ross. Charles Randolph-Wright will direct the musical. [Hollywood Reporter]
- The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards performance list continues to grow. Rihanna and Frank Ocean have been tapped to perform. It airs live next Thursday, September 6 at 8 p.m. [MTV]
- Will Beyoncé make a surprise appearance during Jay-Z’s upcoming “Made in America” festival in Philadelphia? Rumor has it that Queen Bey is working on something pretty amazing, according to one insider. “The performance is top secret but it will be filmed for Jay’s documentary about the event,” said the source. “It’s going to be epic.” [Huffington Post]
