Ruben Studdard says he’s ready to be more transparent to his fans on his latest album, Letter from Birmingham.
The “velvet teddy bear” recently paid a visit to the ESSENCE offices to talk about his new project. “I’m not the first person to put their business on a song, and I’m not going to be the last,” he said referring to the intimate nature of his songs like “June 28th (I’m Single),” which talks about his recent divorce.
“I want let people know what was going on with my life,” he says. “It’s what I went through. I kinda wanted to be in front of the story because a lot of times people sit back and allow people to speculate.”
