Although actor Columbus Short is no longer starring on the hit show Scandal, his past few months have been nothing but scandalous.
From spousal battery, aggravated assault and losing his job, Short was also hit with a million-dollar lawsuit, and was recently arrested for public intoxication.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Short, 31, admitted, “I haven’t been perfect. But I have not been all of the things that have been in the press.”
Short blames the media for the way his recent actions have been perceived. “I think there’s a time when your personal life gets magnified by who we are as celebrities,” he said. “I lost a lot of things due to these ugly stories, whether they are true or not. The allegations put an ugly, nasty taste in people’s mouth and that’s the unfair part that I’ve had to weather.”
Aside from the rumored violent outbreaks, there have also been recent murmurs of a divorce, which Short said are true. “The divorce is going forward and there is a restraining order that’s in effect.”
But Short was more than eager to make it clear where he stands with the divorce and his estranged wife. “I will take ownership. Me and my wife, you know, we’re going through problems. Serious, serious problems. However, the domestic part of it—I am not a physically violent man. I’ve never put my hands on a woman, physically, ever.”
