Comedy writer James “Jimmy Mack” McNair has been killed in the same car crash that left comedian Tracy Morgan in critical condition, reports CBS News.
McNair, 62, was riding in a limo bus with Morgan on Saturday morning when they were involved in a six-car collision on the New Jersey Turnpike that left Morgan and comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton injured.
A seasoned comedy writer, McNair was a stand-up comic who wrote for Morgan. He once hosted a show called The Original Uncle Jimmy Mack’s Amateur Hour.
Morgan, McNair, Fuqua and others had just wrapped up a show at the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, Delaware when the accident occurred around 1 a.m.
New Jersey State Police have charged Kevin Roper, the driver of the tractor-trailer that caused the accident, with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto.
Our prayers go out to James McNair’s family.
