The voice of Corinne Bailey Rae has always been synonymous with a mellifluous hummingbird.
For 10 years, her alto-soprano vocals have reigned across the world as she’s blessed fans with up-beat, feel-good music and the occasional heartfelt ballad (remember “Put Your Records On” and “Just Like a Star”).
Now back with her fourth studio album, The Heart Speak in Whispers, the U.K. songstress yet again uses her captivating vocals for good in her latest single – an empowerment anthem for anyone enduring the hardships in life.
With The Guardian calling Rae’s newest catalog additions “the best R&B of 2016,” there’s no question as to whether or not the England-bred singer delivers with her latest project and single.

Seemingly using your grandma’s favorite saying – “the trouble don’t last always” – as inspiration, Rae bellows, “The skies will break for you my friend…the waves will part, the seas will rend…it won’t be long until it ends…but the heart speaks in whispers,” throughout the chorus.
Rae’s three-minute track uses inspiring anecdotes to address the continual violence seen throughout the world, from police brutality to terrorism.
“And the crowd is so loud/It feels like they’ll drown you out/And the waves crash down/And there’s chaos all around/Don’t let your mind rest on violence, violence, violence.”
