Variety reports that the Black Film Critics Circle has deemed Creed the top film of 2015.
Director Ryan Coogler Delivers Another Knockout with ‘Creed’
On Monday, the BFCC co-president, Mike Sargent, announced the films honor stating, “this has been a very interesting and unique year for Black film.”
The seventh installment in the Rocky franchise received the most votes among films of the year beating out Straight Outta Compton, Beasts of No Nation, Mad Max: Fury Road, Spotlight, The Martian, Room, The Big Short, The Hateful Eight, and Ex Machina.
Michael B. Jordan was awarded Best Actor from the BFCC. His Creed co-stars Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson who received honors for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.
The summer box office hit, Straight Outta Compton, won Best Screenwriting (Original Screenplay) and Best Ensemble Picture.
