In his 2002 will, Michael Jackson named longtime friend Diana Ross guardian of his children should anything happen to his mother, Katherine Jackson.
Currently there are mixed reports on whether Ross is willing to take on the guardianship of her three godchildren since a Jackson family squabble resulted in Katherine being stripped of custody, and later having to share it with grandson T.J. Jackson, Tito Jackson’s son, last week.
While some reports say Ross has agreed to step in if needed, other sources say the Motown legend was surprised by the contents of Michael’s will and never considered taking on the responsibility.
Although there is no word yet of Ross’ final plans, she has issued statement on the reports that she would sign off on a proposed joint custody agreement between co-guardians Katherine and T.J.. “All interests are best served if it reminds private,” she wrote in statement to The Associated Press.
Katherine and T.J.’s next custody hearing is on August 22nd.
