Supreme diva Diana Ross made her much-anticipated appearance Friday on the Oprah Winfrey Show and rocked the crowd. Oprah chatted with the legendary songstress about her family, career, and how she inspired Black girls. Oh, and let’s not forget the serenade that nearly brought Oprah to tears.
Ross, 66, sang her groundbreaking hit, “I’m Coming Out,” before sitting down with Winfrey for her first interview with all of her five chidren — Rhonda Ross Kendrick, Tracee Ellis Ross, Chudney Ross, Ross Arne Naess, Evan Ross — and her grandson — Raif Henok Emmanuel Kendrick.
The two talked about Ross’ marriage, meeting Nelson Mandela, and how she inspired a 10-year-old Oprah to enter Hollywood. “There wasn’t anybody on television who looked like me,” Oprah told Ross through tears. The talk show queen also hosted a surprise reunion between Ross and Billy Dee Williams, her co-star from “Lady Sings the Blues,” for which Ross was nominated for an Oscar.
