The phenomenon even spawned a series of hit shows like TLC's "DC Cupcakes" and The Food Network's smash "Cupcake Wars." From oversized to bite-sized, they're taking the place of wedding cakes and being made in flavors like sugar snap pea and organic carrot cake. Cupcakes were all the rage, but now there is a new sweet in town. What is it, you ask? It's the always reliable, always filling PIE! Voted the top food trend of 2011, the pie is being considered the Michael Kors of desserts.
