Dine on a Dime: The Power of the Stew
Some refer to it as soup, pottage, jugging, hot pot and even casserole
but I know it by one name and one name only: stew. Whether it was beef,
pork, chicken or just plain vegetable you instantly identified this
smell once you opened the front door and stepped into the kitchen.
Usually identified as a one-pot meal, it usually consists of fresh
vegetables, herbs, spices and meat combined and slowly simmered down
into a thick and hearty bowl of sunshine. Think of it as a pot pie
without the crust. Not to be confused with soup, which normally has a
thinner broth, it can either be eaten on top of rice, pasta, with a
spoon or sopped up with a piece of crusty, hearty bread...
