New York Fashion Week experienced a 90’s flashback when the DKNY S/S ’15 show hit the runway. The hair looks, created by Eugene Souleiman, of Wella Professionals was inspired by urban hair styles of the hip-hop 90’s era.
The models rocked chucky pigtail braids with zig zag parting and, as a nod to our gelled baby hairs we all rocked back in the day, slicked down sideburns. And according to the program, everything about the look captured the “multicolored, multicultural, multitasking” of New York streets, including the geometric sweaters and neon sneakers.
“I wanted to create a look that reflected the different New York mix of urban cultures, celebrated racial diversity, and had a slightly ‘old school’ feel to it. I wanted something strong that had a definite point of view,” added Eugene.
Are you feeling the baby hairs? Will you bring back your favorite 90’s looks this Spring?
