Don Cheadle is asking music fans to help him fund his forthcoming biopic on Miles Davis, Miles Ahead.
The House of Lies star, who is directing and starring in the biopic, has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help him raise $325,000. In a promotional video for the campaign, Cheadle reveals that he has recruited ESSENCE Festival performer Robert Glasper as a composer, as well as legendary jazz musician Herbie Hancock, though he doesn’t go into details of how. Zoe Saldana and Ewan McGregor have also been tapped.
“Miles was not a typical jazz musician,” said Cheadle. “He preferred that his work be referred to as social music. I think it’s befitting that the making of this movie be a social experience.”
A $10,000 donation will get you a chance to play golf with Cheadle. Other perks include tickets to concerts by Nas and Robert Glasper, set visits, and a “Thank You” in the credits.
Miles Ahead is expected to begin shooting this summer in Cincinnati.
