Donald Trump’s first full Monday in office was a flurry of activity, with the new commander-in-chief signing a number of executive orders he promised during the campaign trail.
First, he withdrew the U.S. from the sweeping 12-nation Trans-Pacific Partnership — a centerpiece of former President Obama’s attempts to deepen U.S. ties in Asia.
“Great thing for the American worker that we just did,” Trump said in brief remarks as he signed a notice in the Oval Office.

That was not all. Trump also signed orders that froze most federal government hiring — except for the military. Plus, he reinstated a ban on providing federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option.
It was a surprisingly focused day for an administration that had multiple back-and-forths with the media this weekend over the coverage of Trump’s inauguration on Friday.
But it also begs to question what we might lose through executive orders in the next few months.
