Vanessa Trump, the wife of Donald Trump Jr., filed for divorce on Thursday after days of rumors, according to multiple news reports.
The couple, who have been married for 13 years, released a joint statement following the news:
“After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement said. “We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time.”
Vanessa filed for an uncontested proceeding, meaning that the couple will not have to battle over assets or the custody of their five children. Their children are between the ages of 5 and 10.
Rumors of the couple’s marital struggles have been fodder for tabloids. The New York Post reported Trump Jr.’s frequent travel was one reason for their problems.
Vanessa also made headlines last month after opening a letter sent to her household that contained a white powder. Though the powder was found to harmless, she was hospitalized alongside her mother.
The couple wed in 2005.
