The anti-Muslim rhetoric of President Donald Trump is no subtle issue. He’s made it quite clear how he feels about the world’s largest religious group. Only in the third week of his presidency, the reality star has signed executive orders and made statements to convey his ‘crack down’ on the Muslim community.
But his latest move may be one of the most dangerous since taking the position as Commander-in-Chief.
As reported by Reuters, Trump wants to revamp and rename the “Countering Violent Extremism” or CVE, to “Countering Islamic Extremism” or “Countering Radical Islamic Extremism.” He also wants to no longer target groups such as White supremacists who have carried out bombings and shootings in the United States, but focus on Islamic extremists.

Sources also note that some proponents of the program rebranding could make it more difficult for the government to work with Muslims already hesitant to trust the new administration.
In addition to creating more tension between the government and Muslim community by shifting the focus from all violent ideology to only Islamist extremism, there’s a growing concern about homeland security. You know, from violent groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Alt-Right supporters and White supremacists that have been terrorizing the nation for decades.
“That is concerning for us because they are targeting a faith group and casting it under a net of suspicion,” said Hoda Hawa, director of policy for the Muslim Public Affairs Council.
The rename and revamping of the CVE have not happened yet, but we have a feeling Trump will push it through no matter what.
