For years, Eddie Murphy made us laugh every time he portrayed Bill Cosby on Saturday Night Live.
However, it appears that those days may be over.
The comedian and SNL alum opened up to the Washington Post earlier this week on why he chose not to reprise the character during this year’s Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special (SNL actor Kenan Murphy played the character instead).

“If you get up there and you crack jokes about him, you’re just hurting people,” Murphy told the Post, referring to the Cosby’s sexual assault allegations. “You’re hurting him. You’re hurting his accusers. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m coming back to SNL for the anniversary, I’m not turning my moment on the show into this the thing.”
Cosby’s camp have applauded Murphy for refusing to poke fun at the actor, who is facing sexual assault allegations from more than 50 women.
“I am very appreciate of Eddie,” a Cosby spokesperson said in a statement, “and I applaud his actions.”
