As a Black woman, Ayana Ball-Griffie, founder of Sisters Tri-ing, understands the intricacies of managing everything from scheduling hair appointments to the all-so important time in the gym. With nearly 80 percent of Black women either overweight or obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ball-Griffie realized that she had to do something. In 2006, Ball-Griffie established Sisters Tri-ing, a business for women to get their hair done while also promoting healthy eating and providing personal trainers, making it a little easier for Black women to focus on staying in shape. Sisters Tri-ing was founded in Denver, Colorado.
