Last Saturday, on the third floor of Bloomingdale’s in Los Angeles’ Beverly Center, ESSENCE teamed with She Who Dares and Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN) to present a powerful discussion focused on self-awareness, inner peace and dedicating oneself to living life, fully. Coleman, Media Personality, Tai Beauchamp, Television Host & Author, Shaun Robinson, and DJ & Personality, DJ Kiss.
2016 Essence Festival Speakers Announced: Tyra, Iyanla and Misty Set to Empower Us!
Founded by Coleman and Co-Founded by Beauchamp, She Who Dares’ mission is simple – to highlight the importance of personal development and the extraordinary power possessed by every woman. As Beauchamp notes, transparency is the key to achieving that mission. “Having this platform to share our stories is so important,” she says. “These are the types of conversations that can help women along their path to being empowered.” Speaking on the panel about her personal and professional journeys, DJ Kiss shared an important turning point in her life. “A really big moment for me was when I stopped trying to be what everybody thought I was supposed to be and really [began to be] authentic to myself.”

At the close of the event, Coleman noted, “I’m just feeling so excited and fulfilled that we were able to come together to share the message of She Who Dares and also, have it resonate so well amongst this group of women.” Robinson agreed. “There are times when you’re on a panel and giving advice and you don’t really know [how it’s being received] until the end,” she says. “After today’s discussion, I spoke to about 20 women who said that I’d really inspired them, which made me very happy. Today was a good day.” Immediately following the panel, attendees were encouraged to indulge in some retail therapy, too, as 10% of proceeds from all tracked purchases, storewide, were donated to WEEN.
