Leading up to this weekend’s South Carolina primaries, ESSENCE is teaming up with Black Women’s Roundtable to host a Power of the Sister Vote townhall meeting tonight in Charleston at 6:30 p.m. ET exploring why Black women’s voices are so essential to the 2016 election.
Participants on tonight’s panel include Living Single star Erika Alexander, ESSENCE contributor April D. Ryan, CNN political analyst Tara Setmayer and Black Women’s Roundtable president Melanie Campbell, among other Black female educators, clergy and various community leaders.
ESSENCE and Black Women’s Roundtable Release Survey, “The Power of the Sister Vote”
A study conducted by ESSENCE and Black Women’s Roundtable last year found that Black female voters are most concerned about money and basic needs. Additionally, Black women voted at a higher rate than any other demographic during the 2012 elections.
