Target is getting rid of gender specific labels on girls and boys toys after customers raised concerns about unecessary gender based signs, reports NBC News.
The retailer posted a statement to their website Friday detailing the changes saying, “Over the past year, guests have raised important questions about a handful of signs in our stores that offer suggestions based on gender…as guests have pointed out, in some departments like Toys, Home or Entertainment, suggesting products by gender is unnecessary. We heard you, and we agree.”
The apparel department will see no changes but toys, home and entertainment will be phased out of gender specific labeling including pink, blue, yellow or green paper on the back walls of shelves. Shoppers can expect to see changes within the next month.
