Breastfeeding in public still remains a controversial topic for some—much to the dismay of most moms.
With August being declared National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, the act has been highly publicized. Out of that movement has come another: Black Breastfeeding Week. Starting today through Sunday, August 31, women and men everywhere will be “celebrating Black families—their beauty, power and ability to support healthier babies and healthier moms through breastfeeding.” With a bunch of online conversations, community-based events and social media love, the first annual week, created by three Black women, is sure to get some attention.
