Tina Charles knows that sharing is caring. The WNBA star plans to donate half of her salary to prove it.
According to the Huffington Post, the basketball star will donate half of her $100,000 salary to the foundation she started in honor of her aunt, who died from a multiple organ failure in 2013.
The huge act of charity is just one of Charles’ many efforts, including her $50,000 donation to her foundation “Hopey’s Heart” last season. The foundation commemorates the life of Wes Leonard, a high school basketball player who died of cardiac arrest in 2011. Health education, CPR training and automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) for schools and community recreation centers are provided through the organization.
“Taking an interest in others is key in my life,” said Charles. “It’s my way of giving back.”
