Family drama happens to us all. We fight with our siblings, disagree with our parents and argue with our spouses. No big deal.
But when your parent is also you manager—and you’re Beyoncé—a fight is totally a big deal. When the singer dismissed her father, Matthew Knowles, as her manager back in 2011, everyone assumed their relationship was on the rocks. But in a recent interview with 104.1, Knowles disclosed that their relationship isn’t as bad as everyone thinks. “We still talk every Sunday,” he said. “She’s still the humble, generous person that she’s always been.”
The idea that Knowles and his superstar daughter are able to put aside whatever professional differences (and scandals) they’ve gone through says a lot. It got us thinking about family conflict. How do you handle it? Do you not hold grudges when it comes to family? Do you let time pass before you reconnect; cut daily interactions, but make sure they know you’re there in an emergency?
