Yesterday, it was announced that a Staten Island grand jury would not indict Daniel Pantaleo, the officer who killed Eric Garner with an illegal chokehold in July.
Outraged and saddened citizens took to the streets of New York City to protest the decision by marching through Times Square, staging demonstrations in Grand Central Station, and even attempting to disrupt the annual Christmas tree lighting in Rockefeller Center.
This is the latest blow to the morale of the Black community, causing an increased sense of distrust and fear of the police. However, these latest grand jury decisions are also causing a new wave of activists to rise up and demand changes to the justice system.
We want to know what you’re doing to respond to this latest social injustice. Take our poll and sound off in the comments about what you’d like to see done in the Eric Garner case and other cases of police brutality.
