It’s officially Cyber Monday and if you weren’t a part of the crowd that hit the mall on Friday you may be cozying up to your computer today to catch those deals.
According to TIME, Black Friday sales fell from $11.6 billion in 2014 to $10.4 billion in 2015. The decrease is said to be attributed to the increase in online sales which jumped by 14 percent reaching $2.72 billion in sales.
Another factor in Black Friday sales may have been this weekend push to spend #NotOneDime, the nationwide economic boycott in response to racial injustices that Black Americans have faced in recent years.
The movement calls for Black people to exercise their economic power by avoiding non-essential shopping from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, with the exception of Black owned businesses.
Whether you’re switching back and forth between tabs to get those deals right now, all done with your holiday shopping, opting out in support of #NotOneDime or taking your time when it comes to getting gifts we want to know about it.
