Spike Lee is asking his fans to chip in and help him rase $1.5 million for his next feature film about people “who are addicted to blood.”
Currently being touted as the “Newest Hottest Spike Lee Joint,” Lee explains that the film will be about drugs, alcohol, power and sex.
“Dear Faithful,” he begins. “I say my Prayers every night because I have been able to do what I Love and I Love what I do.
“Filmmaking is what I do. Filmmaking is what I love. And you guys help me keep it going. This is a mother******* tough business, and I’m going to keep fighting the powers that be.”
Lee said he was partly inspired by actor Zach Braff’s recent crowdfunding effort which helped him raise $3.1 million for a feature film. “I heard about that and I said, ‘Oh snap!'” he said in the video.
Criminals Minds star Shemar Moore is also asking his fans to help him make his first feature film The Bounce Back through Indiegogo, another fundraising platform. “I’m not Brad Pitt or George Clooney,” Moore said in his pitch. “I’m not at that level. But I want a shot at that kind of career.”
