The super-cute Kid President (Robby Novak) has returned to the web with a new video about summer.
The video starts out with his normal fun and silly tone but takes a serious turn when in the middle of his “No School” dance, Kid President learns that millions of kids don’t look forward to the end of school because they will no longer have access to the free or reduced-price lunches.
According to ConAgra Foods, 90 percent of the 21.5 millions kids who depend on free or reduced-price lunches lose access to it over the summer.
ConAgra Foods Foundation is donating the price of one meal to Feeding America for every view, like, and share of Kid President’s news video.
Food isn’t the only loss some kids face during the summer months. The “summer slump” is another daunting effect of the 2-3 month break from school. According to studies, most children lose about two months of grade equivalency in math. In reading, middle-income kids actually show slight gains in the summer, but low-income students lose about two months of learning.
That being said, making sure your kids are in the right environment over the summer can be an overwhelming task for parents, especially ones with full-time jobs. What are you planning to do with your kids this summer? Share any tips and suggestions for other parents.
