The Internet is in an uproar after Lifetime’s biopic Aaliyah: Princess of R&B aired Saturday night. Fans to took to Twitter and Instagram to criticize everything about the TV movie from the casting to the lack of the singer’s music.
Aaliyah was very dear to our hearts & we just wanted to see her story done the right way! That was NOT the legacy that Aaliyah left.

Even Timbaland, music producer and longtime friend of the late singer, couldn’t hold back his wrath, calling the film “bullsh-t” and hoping that people weren’t watching it.
Two of the film’s executive producers, Howard Braunstein and Debra Martin Chase, have been defending their decision to move forward with the movie despite not having Aaliyah’s music or her fan’s support.
“Biopics are hard,” Chase told the Washington Post. “People have an opinion and social media allows them to voice that opinion. But at the end of the day, our goal was to make the best movie possible.”
