America is still reeling from the senseless tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday.
Last night President Obama addressed mourners at a prayer vigil and promised to lead a national effort to change the laws surrounding gun control. “We can’t tolerate this anymore,” he said. Obama also noted this was the fourth time in his four-year presidency that the nation was faced with an incident of mass murder with a gun.
“We’re not doing enough,” said the president. “And we will have to change.”
The massacre at Sandy Hook has certainly reignited the debate surrounding gun control and forced America to do some soul-searching. But will this be the catalyst for the change so many are calling for? How will we prevent another Sandy Hook, Aurora, or Columbine?
Or will this tweet by @Mixt_rrs ring true forever? “1 guy tries shoe bomb EVERYONE at airport takes shoes off. 31 #senseless school shootings since Columbine = no change #Newtown.”
