What would you do if, on your wedding day, one of your guests got down on one knee to propose to their boyfriend or girlfriend? Would you go from happy bride to Bridezilla in three seconds flat or be the first to toast the happy couple?
One Iowa bride took the latter route after her sister, who has only been identified as Megan, became engaged at the bride’s reception. A photo of her boyfriend on one knee that has been circulating on social media has gotten a chilly reception (“Nice way to upstage the happy couple’s big day,” one commenter wrote on the photo), but Megan insists that her sister was thrilled—in fact, she said that it was the bride’s idea.
“My fiancé told her he didn’t want to ruin their day, and she insisted it would only make it better,” Megan told the New York Daily News. “The groom of the wedding actually held my engagement ring the entire trip.”
How would you react if this happened to you? Do you feel like the spotlight should be on you (it is your wedding day, after all!), or would a proposal only spread the love that’s already airborne? Take our poll, and leave us a comment telling us when you think proposals go too far.
