Kanye West reportedly remains hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles following an alleged incident that took place on Monday afternoon.
Additional details about the incident have since surfaced, with TMZ reporting that West has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after officials responded to a “psychiatric emergency” at his trainer’s gym.
Earlier in the day, it was announced that West had canceled the remaining dates on his Saint Pablo tour, before later being hospitalized for exhaustion and sleep deprivation. NBC News reported that the decision to admit the rapper was “for his own health and safety.”

West’s personal physician was the one who made the call after West allegedly tried to assault a staff member at the gym. Dr. Michael Farzam told officials that West was suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration.” He also warned that West was not violent but believed he would become violent when police arrived.
CBS News also reports that friend and fellow artist John Legend opened up about his concern for the rapper, telling CBS This Morning that he and wife Chrissy Teigen were with Wests’ wife Kim Kardashian shortly before the incident. “We were with Kim actually, you know, right before all of that,” Legend said. “I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and some time to figure things out.”
Kardashian, who was scheduled to make her first public appearance in over a month on Monday night at Denise Rich’s Angel Ball, immediately left New York and flew to her husband’s side instrad. The rest of the family reportedly left for Los Angeles Tuesday afternoon.
