On Thursday evening, Serena Williams married her longtime love, Alexis Ohanian.
The world’s greatest tennis player had a million-dollar wedding planned by Preston Bailey that invited family and friends in from all over the globe. Below are the details we’ve found out about the big day!
The rehearsal dinner was close to the wedding venue:
The couple were said to have had their rehearsal dinner at Emeril Lagasse’s Meril restaurant in the French Quarter, where Serena wore a white Versace dress.
It was held at the Contemporary Museum of Arts:
Serena’s love of New Orleans is said to be the reason the couple got married in the Big Easy. Keeping with tradition, they hired a brass band to play throughout the night.
The event welcomed around 250 guests:
All of the Williams family was present, included Serena’s father, mother and sisters. There were also dozens of celebrity friends invited including Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Eva Longoria, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, La La Anthony, Cynthia Erivo, Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Kardashian and Anna Wintour.
Serious entertainment was provided:
The Ohanians were said to have not one, but more than four performances during the night. Guests were welcomed with a live version of “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast. New Edition was said to have played a five-song set during the reception. Gospel singer DeWayne Crocker performed as well as New Orleans funk/jazz band, Naughty Professor. As reported by The Daily Mail, a trumpet player for the latter said each room inside had a different type of music, and the bands rotate from room-to-room.
Spirits were high and tables were themed:
Cases of George Clooney’s tequila, Casamigos were seen being brought into the venue and guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail/champagne hour. The tables at the reception were named after Williams’ grand-slam titles and guests walked away with custom gold trophies as favors.
