A Georgia man was arrested Friday for killing his ex-girlfriend after a two-hour standoff with police.
Quantez D’Ante Tyre shot his ex-girlfriend Tyrika Terrell several times in the head Monday at the Decatur post office where she worked, according to local media. Terrell called 911 right before she was attacked after spotting him in the parking lot of the post office. She told the dispatcherthat Tyre had threatened to kill her a week earlier.
She died in hospital, leaving her 6-month-old daughter with Tyre.
When the police tracked the suspect to his aunt’s house on Friday, he barricaded himself within the house and started a fire. By the time they gained entry, he had shot himself. He is currently being held in police custody at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Tyre has a history of domestic violence: he pleaded guilty to beating a previous girlfriend a year ago, ABC News reports. He was sentenced to probation and had to attend domestic violence counseling.
