The two kicked off New York Fashion Week at the “Runway To Win” fundraising event, which featured Tina and Beyonce’s clothing line, House of Dereon, as one of 23 design companies chosen to create T-shirts and accessories in support of the president’s re-election campaign.

“We want to be a part of history,” said Tina, who designed a $45 Dereon T-shirt. “There’s so much emphasis [on the] negativity instead of all the great things that President Obama has accomplished. It’s really important that we get out and support just like we did to put him in office.”

Solange also highlighted what she believes are the president’s many accomplishments. “The troops are home. There’s health care reform. There are more Americans who are able to go to college,” she said. “I think he’s done an exceptional job in the four years he’s been in office. Any way I can showcase my support for him, I do.”

The songstress, who’s working on a new album, had a minor scare when she dropped a ring that she said “cost more than my son’s college tuition” at the star-studded event hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
“Obviously [it’s] borrowed,” joked Solange, who later recovered the ring, and shared that her jewels weren’t the only borrowed goods: Her box clutch belonged to her mother. “And I stole [Beyonce’s] clutch,” Tina added.
