Union will star alongside Omari Hardwick, Tika Sumpter, BJ Britt, Lisa Vidal and Richard Roundtree in the scripted series about a single career woman who works her way up to the top as the host of a 24-hour national cable news network. Viewers will follow Union as she searches for the so-called missing pieces from her life.
In addition to the aforementioned, Margaret Avery, Richard Brooks, Stephen Bishop, Raven Goodwin, Latarsha Rose, Robinne Lee and Aaron Spear round out the cast.
Production kicked off yesterday and Brock Akil is elated about her new project. “As so many powerful, smart and educated Black women continue to do amazing things in the world, the complex balance of success, family, love and companionship is something all of us can relate to,” she says in a statement to ESSENCE.com.
Brock Akil’s hubby, Sparkle director Salim Akil, will co-produce and direct the one-hour series for Akil Productions.
