Nothing inspires you to want great love in your life more than seeing it in action, right in front of you.
Models-turned-actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker seem to have it all. They’ve been blissfully married with kids for seven years; they’re beautiful, talented, and just as in love today as they were on their first date 10 years ago. You can’t speak about Black love in Hollywood without bringing up this dynamic duo, who happily ditched the big city in favor of suburban life in Atlanta, just to ensure a normal life for their kids. How do they do it?
Don’t you think it’s about time they shared their secrets? We did, so we invited the happy couple to the ESSENCE TV studios to dish on how they’ve remained so madly in love all these years.
“Guys have to be more present,” says Kodjoe. “When the wife walks in, it should be an event. You have to look up, you have to close the computer, and you have to say, hey baby, wow!” Parker couldn’t agree more. She tells us, when he act’s right, that’s when she most wants to please her man. “When he does it, I feel like a million bucks,” she says. “Then I’m nice all day. That’s when the food comes. I’m roasting chicken with rosemary and lavender, and everything.”
“Guys, it’s simple, very simple,” insists Kodjoe, who admits his stomach is most certainly the way to his heart. “Make her feel great and you get food and everything else.”
