Life coach and host of OWN’s Iyanla: Fix My Life, Iyanla Vanzant’s name has become synonymous with spiritual guidance and positivity. She’s the go-to woman for cleaning up an emotional mess, but where does the voice of reason turn when she must keep herself grounded?
We caught up with Vanzant on the white carpet at the 7th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood event to chat about positive reality TV and who fixes her life when she needs it.
“I have a posse. Every woman has to have a posse…a village…a community. Those women keep me straight. They keep me from getting too big or keep me from getting out of touch. They keep me from getting too full of myself and staying on point. I think the other thing that keeps me grounded is my grandchildren, because they are not impressed…at all…if I don’t have cookies they could care less that I have my own TV show.”
New episodes of Iyanla Fix My Life return to OWN this spring.
The live stream of the 7th annual ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood red-carpet aired Thursday at 2:30 p.m. EST. Catch a recap of the action here.
