LeToya Luckett promised that she would be a married woman before 2018, and she meant it.
The singer and her fiancé, Dallas-based entrepreneur Tommicus Walker, tied the knot on Sunday evening in a lavish ceremony in Austin, TX.
The intimate wedding was held at Villa Antonia, a sprawling mansion in the canyons of the Texas Hill Country.
Pastor John Gray, star of OWN series The Book Of John Gray, is a dear friend of the couple’s and was on hand to officiate their wedding ceremony. When Luckett, 36, shared her engagement story exclusively with ESSENCE in August, she revealed that Pastor Gray had prophesized the couple’s union before they met.
Luckett wore a custom Vera Wang gown and Christian Louboutin sandals down the aisle, while her dapper groom donned a Tom Ford jacket and pants by Ermenegildo Zegna.
“Vera Wang graciously allowed me to add a few touches to my dress as my own addition,” Luckett tells ESSENCE.
Eudoxie Bridges, the bride’s best friend and wife to rapper Ludacris, served as one of two matrons-of-honor and the groom’s brothers, Tamarcus Joe Walker and Treoun Walker, were the best men.
Luckett’s bridesmaids wore long black gowns in varied styles for the occasion. The wedding was a black tie affair with a deep red, white and black color theme.
The couple’s celebrity guest list included Ludacris, Tank and Michelle Williams. Tank sang “At Last” as Luckett walked down the aisle to meet her groom. Luckett’s former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Latavia Roberson, was also in attendance to support her good friend on her big night.
The newlyweds credit their planner, Tysha Stewart of Premiere Events, with helping them pull off their dream wedding day without a hitch.
“She was abolutely amazing,” Luckett tells ESSENCE. “She really gave us her all.”
Luckett and Walker went public with their relationship in August after he surprised her with a grand proposal on his birthday and photos and videos from the special evening began appearing on social media.
“I feel it’s very important to build your foundation first before sharing your relationship with the world,” Luckett told ESSENCE in an interview the day after getting engaged. Luckett went on to reveal that after praying for a husband, she bumped into designer Nikki Chu at a friend’s wedding. Chu arranged a blind introduction between Luckett and Walker because she believed they would hit it off. She was right.
“Immediately the chemistry was there,” Luckett told ESSENCE at the time. “We started talking and laughing. He’s from Texas just like me. Talking to him felt like being home again. We talked for a few weeks and he still didn’t know what I looked like or my full name or anything like that.”
Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Walker!
