American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino will return to her star role as Celie when the national tour of The Color Purple, starts a five-week engagement at the Kennedy Center, according to the Associated Press. The show will run in Washington, D.C. opening on June 30 to August 2. Barrio is the first American Idol champ to lead on Broadway. The Color Purple tour is produced by media queen Oprah Winfrey.-JW
