Global platform Fashion 4 Development brought designers and dignitaries under one roof for their 2nd annual First Ladies Luncheon at the Pierre Hotel in New York City. Fashion icon Stephen Burrows, super model Alek Wek, Roberta Flack and Miss Universe – Leila Lopes came out to support Evie Evangelou, F4D’s co-founder. Her goal? to unite “the fashion industry, media, diplomats, business people – everyone, to come together to support the millenium development goals in bringing people out of poverty,” Evangelou told ESSENCE.com.
Among the many royals in attendance – from the First Lady of Kwara State, Nigeria to the princess of Norway – there was one commonality explained Evangelou, “It’s about food, clothing and shelter.” And that they all agreed on.
