Public Enemy’s “Fight the Power” will hold a spot in history on VH1’s list of the 100 greatest hip-hop songs. Salt-N-Pepa’s edgy chart-topper “Push It” qualified the rap duo as the only female group to make the top ten. Surprisingly, two of the most celebrated rappers in recent years, Jay-Z and Eminem, only scored in the top 20. The show will start its countdown on September 29 as VH1 prepares to honor the pioneers of rap in next month’s annual Hip-Hop Honors show. Some of this year’s honorees include Slick Rick, De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Naughty by Nature and Too $hort.
