Former District of Columbia Mayor and current D.C. Council member, Marion Barry died early Sunday at age 78. Barry had been released from Howard University Hospital on Saturday, checked into United Medical Center at 12:30am early Sunday, and passed away there at 1:46am, according to the Washington Post in a statement released by his family. The cause of his death was not announced.
Barry published an autobiography titled, “Mayor For Life, the Incredible Story of Marion Barry, Jr.” in June 2014.
The four-time D.C. Mayor and Ward 8 City Councilman leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Cora Masters Barry and his only child, son Marion Christopher Barry.
