Following the larger-than-life success of Straight Outta Compton, N.W.A’s former manager, Jerry Heller, is filing a $110 million lawsuit against the film’s cast and crew.
Filing the lawsuit last week, Heller cites defamation, claiming that the biopic, which has grossed more than $200 million, paints him in a negative light and blames him for the break-up of the rap group, reports The Hollywood Reporter. He also alleges copyright infringement, misappropriation of likeness, breach of a settlement agreement and tortious interference. The lawsuit names NBCUniversal, director F. Gary Gray, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the estate of Eric Wright.
“The film is littered with false statements that harm the reputation of Plaintiff and aim to ridicule and lower him in the opinion of the community and to deter this persons from associating or dealing with him,” reads the lawsuit.
None of the defendants have responded to Heller’s lawsuit.
